Scholarship Fund

Thanks to the generosity of long-time Bluehawks Board member and supporter, David Stover, the David S. Stover Dayton Bluehawks Travel Hockey Club Scholarship Fund has been established.  Information on eligibility for the scholarship and application forms are provided below.  Please note that applications are due by March 26, 2010.

Travel Hockey Club Scholarship Fund

The David S. Stover Bluehawk Travel Hockey Club Scholarship Fund of The Dayton Foundation was established to encourage and assist deserving former Dayton Bluehawks Travel Hockey team players to further their education at an accredited two- or four-year college or university

Scholarship Criteria

§         Plan to attend an accredited two- or four-year college or university. Preference will be given to applicants attending schools within the state of Ohio.

§         Be a former member of the Bluehawks Travel Hockey Club travel team for at least three complete seasons

§         Have a high school grade point average of at least a 2.2 on a 4.0 scale

§         Submit a completed application form and include the following attachments:

 An official certified transcript (high school or college)*

*First year college students should also include an official high school transcript

 List of community service, co-curricular activities, honors and employment history

 An essay outlining why you are deserving of the scholarship - one page, typed, double-spaced

 Participate in a personal interview with the Selection Committee

Size and frequency of the Scholarship

·         An $800 scholarship will be offered annually. However, the Selection Committee may elect not to award a scholarship if, in its judgment, a suitable candidate cannot be identified.

Use of the Scholarship

The scholarship may be used for tuition, room/board and related educational expenses.
